Thank you all for the comments and votes. For those that asked, no, it is not my snake, I had to rent it from a kid that works in a local pet shop. I had never handled a snake before, it ended up being fun. I am told this is a 'Ball Python' named so because it curls itself into a ball when threatened (confirmed). The snake lived in my house for 2 days; it did not need to be fed as the owner had just fed it a mouse the day before I got it, in fact, you can actually see the mouse lump inside the snake in the section wrapping around the neck of the bottle. It was a wonderful model, a very gentle animal, I felt a bit sad to see it go back to its owner. You may see some outtakes in the outtakes forum at //www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=562635

Thank you again.

Awesome photo for this challenge. For some reason, when I think of alternative medicine, I always thinkg of those old timey snake potions. You did a really great job making an awesome photo!

nice. gonna piss off the alternative crowd, but this is a gem in a pretty lackluster challenge. 8 for now. Bump to 10. My fav in the challenge.

After viewing all the photos in this challenge IMO this is definitely the most creative and best executed shot (probably the most difficult subject to shoot too). We should have a ribbon here.

This is a fantastic image, I really enjoy it. Now if you could have gotten your model to co-operate more to match the label I would have scored this a 10. Very nicely done.

I don't like snakes, but this is a really good picture for the challenge. Your lighting is very good. Perfect placement of the snake and good focus.

Back to bump.

nice setup with good lighting. I wish your ground and background blended better and that your bottom wasn't wrinkled. Also I'm being picky but that speck of brown near the snake's head at the bottom of the photo is bothersome. Beautiful creature though. 8

I love this idea... but the shadow and wrikles in the cloth are distracting. I think a little better lighting could have made this really cool.

The placement of the snake really makes this photo. It looks like a professional ad, though one I don't think I'd like to try :P I like the warm tones of the snake as well. Very nice job! :)

I think a little backlight, or a little more side lighting on the left would really make the subject stand out from the background, and make the subject a lot stronger.
