Picture was taken with a Nikon optical microscope at a 200x magnification. I put a drop of water on a silicon slide that had been oxidized and submerged it in liquid nitrogen until the ice was so cold that it cracked.

Only the contrast was edited, the source lamp and the refraction from the silicon created the coloring along with the stress from the ice crystals.

The Camera was an attachment for the Nikon Elipse 150
NOT TAKEN WITH D200 there was not an option for a microscope camera

I think rotating this would take it from plain photo microscopy to artistic perspective. Still, nice shot.

I like the prisms of light in this image. There could be a little more clarity to the image however.
