cliche'? probably. done before? yes. last minute entry? definitely...

it's a real shame they stole the swastika. did you know it's traditionally a symbol of peace? don't believe me? check wikipedia.org...

*** post challenge

thanks for all the comments and the generous score. still hard to believe i got this in a single shutter click. first try. got the lighting right, took one shot and said "ok dear. we're done."

if it hadn't been a last minute entry, i'd have, of course, shot a second attempt sans contacts, but oh well...

Swastika does denote peace but its the Right facing swastika which denotes it.
The Left facing one, as used by Nazis, denotes the opposite.

Its used amongst the Hindus at all religious prayers and decorations.

yes, it is a shame they stole it, it's a great shape. nice shot, well done. i only find the line of the contacts distracting.

Red is an extremly effective color, in love and war. Bring it out more in this photo for a drastic effect. Avoid the skin because it appears evil as needed, the vortex veins, I feel need to be electrified.

Great idea to use contacts in this shot, and good use of desat. Too bad its not advanced editing so you could clone out the edge of the contact lens. I would have liked to see the eye looking straight at the camera, or perhaps a shot of both eyes doing so.

Great idea. The reflection in the eye is a bit too sharp for my taste, making it look photoshopped. I would have softened the edges a bit.
