I've taken BradP's advice and reduced the exposure by .5ev and I agree that it looks better now.

I'm annoyed that I didn't realise that I had the camera set to f/3.5 for all the photos I took of these rocks. The softness of the rocks at the bottom of the frame really bugs me.
Usually I try to use f/8-11 for these sort of shots, which at 18mm is pretty much an infinite dof. 3.5 just isn't the same, guess I'll have to go and sit on some rocks again tonight and watch the moon rise.
I cheated a bit with the moon in this photo - would have to enter this one under expert editing seeing as the moon comes from a different photo.

Great shot Tim, I like how the the light is right in your face and and the contrast between soft water and rock formatons is excellent.

AH - this is better now.
I had saved a copy of the original one so I could see what I was going to suggest, and just compared them. It almost could stand another -0.25 or so, but then you start running into issues with people's monitor calibrations. This and it's new crop work well.

Oh what a stunning shot!!!
The perspective on this works really well too.
Can I make a suggestion? A -0.50 to -0.75 EV adjustment on this really changes the mood and brings out the rich colors.
Regardless, this is gorgeous and a new favorite.

But a very lovely seascape it is! The mist/softness of the water is simply beautiful. Nice pastel colors to match that softness, too.
