Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Table Shot II (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Location: SLC, Utah (my living room)
Date: Jan 28, 2007
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 800
Shutter: 1/20
Galleries: Interior, Self Portrait
Date Uploaded: Jan 30, 2007

This image is completely unedited. The only changes made to this file were the file name, and resizing (the file was to large to submit otherwise). I set my camera on the coffee table, and shot with a very small depth of field, centered on the wicker of the table. I decided to try a self portait on this one, since the self would appear as more of a ghost than a shot that screamed \"hey, look at me!\"

I set my camera to timer, framed and focused my image, hit the shutter release, ran, and sat on the floor--against the wall. it was about a half hour prior to sunset. The sun was flowing in through a west-facing window to my right. minimal light filtered in through an east-facing window to my left. only those two natural light sources were used.

I think the girl in the picture should have been in focus rather than the table.

Interesting idea, but the photo somehow just doesn't 'click'

Needs a bit tighter crop from the top, otherwise I like it.

I would rather have seen the girl in focus than the edge of the table.

I think this would work better for me if one of the faces were focused sharply, either the mirror or the person.

I would have liked to see what this looked like if she was in focus and not the wicker on the table.. I think the reflection would still come through with the correct lighting.

hey I like this a lot! Great idea - would have been nice to make those vertical lines vertical - and running levels to make your whites whiter would add a lot of tonal range that's kind of missing.

But a great first effort! I'm so proud!

DOf is poor, either girl or her reflection should have been in focus not the edge of the table. Also the lighting is a bit flat IMHO
