After Lady Di's tragical death, there was a book about Her biography that I saw in Hungarian book stores with the same title. She died just half a year later I had been to London for the first time. She said She would like to be the Queen of people's Hearts. I think Her wish came true, there are a lot of people who love Her, no matter what nation they belong to. I submitted the challenge in memoriam of a great soul, Lady Diana.

For those who don't believe this is truly a book:

The top left corner of the card seems to be above the frame... But it only seems, it's "under" it, they are just the same colour. :-)

PhotoShop: crop, level, desaturation (except red).
NeatImage: noise reduction / sharpen.

Greetings from the Critique Club :)

Hi Marta :)

I really enjoy this photo. This is one of the relatively few instances of desaturating all but one color that seems to work very nicely. I see this technique used here frequently but can rarely determine the reason for it. Red is a color of strength and power and you have used that to your advantage in this photograph.

I also like the composition you have chosen in this still life. You created an interesting diagonal with the card and anchored that to the corner of the frame with the rose. This photo exhibits the fact that you have a good eye for composition :)

You have also just created the highest scoring photo on DPChallenge with your model of camera :) This supports the fact that the camera is NOT the deciding factor in whether a photo is great or not :)

Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing much more from you :)

WoW! I can't explain the feeling I have now, but I am extremely happy to receive my highest scores here in DPC, and taking first place on the HP PhotoSmart 318 page. :-) Thank you all for your helpful comments and encouragement you gave me during this challenge - to Agi (Moreno), Jutti, Szuszu, Chili, Blaise and Johnny (Unicum), too -, means me a lot! Aaand,... VIP hugs to Nasti and Gary, I hope we will have that celebrating party soon! ;-)

Nice touch with the rose. The card alone wouldn't have done it for me, but the combination and the inferences thereof make it. Good work!

DOF is perhaps a little to shallow, but the colors and lighting is very well done. 9 -danny

Great composition - I like the way the center line that's diagonal on the card cuts vertically across the photo. Is the foreground a flower or folded cloth - and is that a face in it or just coincidence?

Great work, love the composition and how you filled the frame. The choice of that small borderline with transparent edges is great, it helps to draw the eye into the frame.
Good lighting, good deep black background and good detail in the foreground. The red and black work great together. Did you desaturate anything but the reds or does the card look as I see it here?
Minor flaw is perhaps a bit of oversharpening on the rose's petal edges. But that could also be some jpeg artifacts, because I see some jpeg compression block patterns in the rose detail as well.
Great pic. 10.

why would you have lines in the middle of your image? LOVED the photo. HATE the outline/frame. The photo does not need that to draw attention; the composition is good enough to draw one into the picture. The 'frame' detracts terribly. Should be a 9.

Would have been a better picture without the flower... great choice of cards and background and angle, but why the flower?

Lovely colours on the rose, it looks almost velvety. Great focus on the card. The border goes really well with this picture.

nice one third composition and nice color and clarity -- I think that personally I don't like the edges of the card sliding through the border

Wonderful composition. I'm not a big fan of borders but this one is good, especially with the card and the rose going through it. The rose itself could be a bit lighter on the far right side, but otherwise a very good submission (9)
