 This is my first entry of what I hope to be many to come.
A photograph of a tiny strand of peacock feather, shot using a 100mm macro with a 18-55 lens (at 55mm) stacked on top & lit about 1 inch away slightly off to the side & maybe 0.75" away from the subject.
All editing done in Adobe Raw, contrast, white balance, exposure & some minor dust removal from the lenses (you can see literally anything regardless of how small on two lenses).
Hopefully I\'ll get some good feedback on this.

Wow looks like you are off to a good start, this being your first challenge you did a great job.

"Peacock Strands" is a good entry into Shallow DOF III because it is something different, not the traditional flowers (which I am guilty of using). This image really does draw the viewer in because the colors are so vibrant. The colors look very true to what they actually are. I think voters may have had a harder time voting on this shot because the DOF is kind of hard to tell since it looks more like a repeating pattern. The focus and lighting look good and well composed.

Overall I think this was a great first entry and I can see your second did very well, so I really look forward to your future entries.
