 Look Ma! No HDRI! jejeje™

RAW image converted to TIFF and exported to CS2. Basic image sharpened, cropped, a little dodging around the eyes.

Image duplicated to new file, separated into individual panels, some panels rotated and some of them erased.

Entire panel set overlaid on original image, which was processed with diffuse glow and desaturation.

Canvas painted black and increased to create border.

That's about it. I'm far from happy with this, but I don't have time to make it over again/differently. It was fun to do. I am sure it is doomed to oblivion.

I guess I don't get the point. It looks like you were just experimenting with PhotoShop and wanted to show us what you can do. Nice editing but it doesn't work for me. It just looks cluttered.
