 Great blue heron. I was hoping to spot one at a nearby river, and with luck, I found this as I was crossing the bridge. Part of the river had frozen over, and the bird is actually on ice. I'm sure I'll get dinged for not having a filter, etc., but this was a great day for me.

As I push myself to learn more about photography and post-processing, I try to apply the things I've learned. Basics to most here, but new and exciting stuff for me!

RAW>Levels>Saturation>Gradient>Crop>Save PSD>Dodge/Burn> Cloned out some distractions>Save for web

This is just fab, the crop is great and the water sparkling in the sun is a lovely background.

tough shot. light on wrong side of bord. B&W probably works beter for this

Very 10, the only down side is the strong backlighting, but here it works.
