This was taken at the 2006 Water Valley Rodeo. Yeah, this shot is in my portfolio, but in Sepia as I was struggling whether to enter this in color or redo in Sepia again. The coloration of the outfit is rather...well..."showy" and hopefully will not be a negative influence on the voters? Anyhow, the image is a catch and will no doubt be quite original when compared to the vast number of landscapes, portraits and wildlife shots I anticipate will be competing for attention. I have far too many of the aforementioned which would likely blend into the masses had I entered one of those. This is simply an example of good fortune and what you can get if you just keep clicking. I hope it does well.

Glad to see this place in the top 100, but still think it was deserving of a much higher finish.
This truly is an incredible shot.

Just wanted to say a quick thanks to all you folks who took the time to comment on this image. It was pointed out a couple of times that the subject has a halo around her. Well.....you are right and I'm surprised that I had not caught that as I'm usually looking for that flaw when I submit to stock sites. Oh well,it is what it is and thanks for pointing that out. On the good side, the shot got me the "Best of lens" ranking which I guess is my own little victory.

As someone who shoots trick riding, this shot rocks! And I like the partial desat.

Great colors! Has the feel of selective desaturation without the harsh line between things that are and things that are not colored.

Such a great shot - the processing is a little odd with the colors.

Ohhhh - I like this color version, but just compared and still think I like the toned one just a tad better.
Still an amazing shot and now get to add it to my favorites again!

8 - Well done. Just wish 'somehow' the colors popped more, even though I realize that the subtlety may be intentional. Perhaps a different choice of framing, who knows.

That is a cool shot. There seems to be a line around her lower side though -- perhaps a selection demarcation or sharpening halo. It is a bit distracting. (On second thought, it could be a "backlighting" effect" type of thing).

Although the selective desaturation really helps the rider pop off the background, I think I may have preferred a full color shot.

Love the soft colours, great angle to its great the way you have only part of the horse like they are both leaning into the shot, works really well.

Great capture but I think you ruined it with your processing, all I can focus on is the halo around the girl, it looks like she was pasted on (I know she wasn't but that halo ruins it for me).
