In case anyone is interested, here is an article on brutalism. The interesting light is in no small part down to the amount of pollution in the air...!

I really like this as a photo -- I like the square lines of the house against the soft descending diagonals of the mountain. Interesting light on the house, too -- really makes it stand out from its background. Don't know that they are taking full advantage of the view, though. 8)

Excellent title. Yes, I am familiar with that approach in China. It will take a while to develop a new theme. Nice photo captures the situation very well.

Hmm...

I wonder if they build that to withstand a wilde fire?

It looks like it offers a good view of the mountain valley, but not much asthetics for itself. Even painting it forest green would soften it's placement a bit.

Though if I were to look at it with a designer's eye for improving it. I would likely cover the exterior with stone halves. It'd give it a more weathered older feel and the appearance more akin to an old stone fortress.
