Challenge: Fireworks II (Advanced Editing V*)
Camera: Kodak P880
Location: On my porch Dayton, TN
Date: Dec 31, 2006
Aperture: 1:3.6
ISO: 50
Shutter: 2.0s
Galleries: Sky, Performance
Date Uploaded: Dec 31, 2006

I took this picture with my Kodak P880 on the S setting so I could adjust the shutter and ISO. It is actually sparklers and not fireworks in the sky but, since they are fireworks too, I figured, why not? I adjusted in photoshop CS with Curves, a little dodge on the bright sparks on the outside, a crop and resize, and a color overlay to give it some umph because it was all white. I did auto color, auto contrast, and auto levels. Sharpen X4. And cloned out the obvious piece of sparkler stick in the lower left hand corner (just part of it) and just a dab in the top right. Oh, zoom was at 11.1mm.

So bright it hurts to look at it, I'm guessing too long an exposure, or the sparklers are just too close, I do like the crop. Good Luck, 4

Sorry but photos that just have fireworks in them and nothing else donĀ“t impress me anymore, you need a back/foreground or something else interesting to impress me. Also you are probably aware of this but just in case, your shot has some severly blown out highlights, try decreasing the iso and/or using a smaller aperture next time. Voted this a 4.

The fireworks are too bright, the three bright spots distracts too much. 2 from me, happy new year and good luck.
