Some of you may be getting weary of my always taking photos of these mountains. Sorry. I'm not, and I derive endless pleasure when I travel to work seeing the morning light on their snow-covered peaks. I hope that you folks in the city envy me just a little. (I envy you in other ways...).

These are the Wellsville Mountains, the steepest in the world (a bit of a sneaky distinction, for they aren't that high in elevation; they have the steepest angle from ridgeline to base of any other mountains).

This is also where I work. The fences you see are part of the living history museum (and farm) for which I'm Program Director: the American West Heritage Center (www.awhc.org).

I hope I can share with you some of what I see nearly every day of my life. Enjoy!

Post Challenge: Wow! Thanks for the votes! With all the talent around here, I thought I was done with ribbons. Thanks again to Steve for shooting with me on this cold morning. I'm just now beginning to feel my feet again!

The clouds are blurry from a combo of NeatImage, median, and gaussian blur and various degrees of sharpening after each one. All the blurring tools were used at very low "power." I had to have the sky on a different layer so I could work on it. I also used Unsharp Mask at a large pixel radius and low percentage to add contrast and bring out more texture. I converted to b/w using the channel mixer, which of course created some noise, so these various tools were used to simply rid the sky of noise and enhance the lacy texture of the clouds.

The zigzag pattern of the mountain range complements the zig-zag pattern of the fence! GREAT execution!!!!!

IMO it would be better to let the top of the fence come out of the left edge of the frame, rather than the bottom - this would have added more depth to the landscape.

How did you get the clouds so blurry at 1/80s shutter? I think that I'm seeing motion blur from PP, but I may be wrong.
