More experimentation in pushing the boundaries of what is possible within the rules. Again, if the rules are relaxed I will produce less digital art and focus on techniques which enhance a natural looking photo.

I first noticed this when I joined DPC, and I still keep coming back to it. I think it is a beautfiul use of digital art in photography. Very magical, and perfect composition.

All NeatImage does is remove noise. As a result of using it 3 times for this image, it has the result of losing a lot of detail, and giving an unusual blurred look. The main reason though, is that after the curves and colour adjustments there was tons of noise.
The photo really didn't look far off the finished DPC entry after opening it in Photoshop and applying the curves adjustment. That is what resulted in the strong sky colours, as it was taken at sunset, and quite a nice one at that.

I was wondering how this could have been legaly created. Interesting effects. It looks like some high pass has been used. I dont have neat image, so im not familiar with its effects. Why then is neat image legal but not other photo shop filters? A bit frustrating, eh?

Thanks to those of you that liked this... it's still one of my lowest scoring pics though. The unusual effect came from a curves adjustment that made the mid-shadows brighter than the mid-highlights. Also lots of runs though NeatImage, and some extreme colour balancing.

Didn't score very well...but I still think this is a spectacular image. Keep it up!!

This is a very beautiful picture(?) I love the colors and effects. I can see how this could be done, but it looks more like a painting now than a photograph. I am not voting, just commenting on this challenge, but I would give this an much above average score. nice work

Don't know how you did this but it's fabulous!. I love the ghostly softness and the drama in the clouds. One of the few times I wish the scale went higher.

The solarised (or is it cross processed image I have come across here). An interesting idea but it does not work for me, sorry

This IMHO does not look like a photo anymore and does not do much for me.

The effects don't seem graceful to me. I think the picture left as it was would have looked so much more beautiful. I'd love to see the original...

I love the dreamy effect you have created here. The colors are just great and you have established a wonderful mood. I don't really care for the big square piece of wood tacked to the post in the foreground and I want to take a look at this on a better monitor so I can see if there is better contrast between the horse's front hooves and thee dirt, but other than that (which I did not dislike enough to subtract even a single point for), this is, for me, one of the best shots in the challenge. A print suitable for framing as far as I'm concerned. A 10.

Graceful to me also means "subtle". I find the picture too loud for my taste, too much screaming colors and effects.

For sure your technic is impresive, but I don't like the subject for this challenge

I don't often like these over the top shots, but this one works for me, it has a great feel to it. Nicely done, is it solorize mode?

Interestingly bad to me art to others?
10/29/2003 02:22:41 PM
I'm not sure about this one - nice, but doesn't look natural at all! Much less blurring needed I think.

I like this picture, but it is WAY to over manipulated

I don't understand the need for all of the funky colors, but a very artfull piece. The composition is nice.
