Bah, yet another last minute entry, I´m sure I´ll regret this in the morning, especially since the last 4 open challenges I have been have included two of my worst scores this year and the other two well under my average.

Anyway, shot this just around midnight and am editing real late so I think I am screwed... Best I could come up with all week thinking about this challenge though so I won´t use that as an excuse.

Lit with two flashes, a 580ex bounced into a silver umbrella from the left upper corner and a 550ex on camera bounced up in the white cealing. The water is coming from our showerhead, thanx to Henny who held on to the batteries and aiming the showerhead with her other hand. Backround is a poster I had lying around.

Post processing was unusally much for me with a basic editing challenge. First it was basic raw conversion stuff but I didn´t really like the cyan tone of the backround so I did several (think they were 5 total) passes with the "replace color" tool in PS, each one very mild and then thre passes with "selective color", mostly set to remove all magenta from both the cyan and blue parts of the picture. All this to gradually change all cyan tones in the picture to a more dark blue tone. Would of course not have gone this way if the advanced editing rules had applied, the result isn´t really satisfactory to me, mostly visible with the slight halo on the top side of the top battery. Cropped it rather heavily and rotated 90 clockwise. Curves adjustment and first time I used healing brush with basic editing, only to remove two dust specs in the upper left right of course (what was originally the upper left corner) and finally used smartsharpen after resizing and added the frame.

Well can´t say I expected this ribbon but I rarely do anyway. A lot of you ask why water? Cause it looks cool!!! That simple :P Was just trying to create an image that "might" be an advertisement and wanted it too look fresh.

Thanx for the high votes, I reall really really appreciate it :)

Congrats.
I must tell you though... your image featured in one of the leading news papers here in Bombay promoting DPCHALLENGE as a website for learning and entering contests. They had your image and a small write up on DPC.
Even though I dont know whether they can use your image like that... it was heartening to see a familiar snap since I have been around for almost 2 years and this is first time I have seen DPC in mainstream media in India.

Impressive stuff.

As soon as I saw this I knew it would finish high. I am not surprised to see it ribbon. This is just the sort of shot that appeals here, I think. And for good reason, it is very clever. Especially how you got it to look like it is underwater.

The execution is really nice! I just have no idea why a battery would be in this setting. If there was an underwater electronic product somewhere in the background, that would make this a potential 10 in my eyes.

This is a great shot, the only thing keeping me from giving this a ten is that I would have loved to see the tops of the two batteries. Composition, lighting and tones are all spot on, 9 from me.

lol, I don't think I'd do that to a battery, and while this is very clice,(especially for a battery challenge) The clarity is great. I wish there was a bit more space on the left, so 9
