The artwork from some of their albums is the inspiration for this - I also think it looks like a Magritte painting a bit.
I blew-up some latex gloves - creating a natural creative high … and off I went.

Just a bit of wind made this tough - fortunately I didn't have string because if I did I probably wouldn't have tossed the gloves like this - which is how I like it seeing it now remote and timer used -the camera was on a rock because my tri-pod cannot be trusted.

For every Fave i get I'll donate 3 of my brain cells to science - that gives me enough for 5 favorites.
-
POST: thanks for all the comments - I wasn't sure how this would go over - I was at 8.25 with 50 or so votes and i couldn't believe it! ... Surprisingly, one of these gloves is still inflated in my car (it's a mess, yes).

i haven't met a rock i haven't trusted so far in my life. even the ones that have been thrown at me weren't working on their own accord. tripods on the other hand, seem to always work against you. myabe they're who flung those rocks...

anyhow - i thought i had already commented on this photo, but i guess i hadn't... congrats on the true to floyd image and ribbon !

I can't believe how awesome this is! How perfectly it turned out just throwing those gloves out there like that with no string. And positioned so perfectly without a tripod. This not only deserves a blue ribbon, but a place of honor in a gallery!!! Congratulations!

Almost unbelievable serendipity - no strings? no tripod? wind!? _coincidently_ wore black?!! The gods are with you - this shot looks like every aspect had been planned and executed to within millimeters.
And oops - I faved it - Maybe you can dig up some more brain cells for science - but not just yet. Use them while you can here at DPC we all sure enjoy seeing the results!

Good job Tate! I actually thought of you when I saw this photo...looks like your style. Reminds me of the photo you took with the umbrell, the one where it looks like you're floating.

Well if this doesnt win then there is something seriously wrong. Excellent image and a very Floydian feel to it. Ohioan too - feels Ohioan ;) Bumping to a 9 for now. I keep coming back to this one. Has it all and then some. Bumping to a 10 & adding to my faves.

Nice idea and pretty well executed, kindof dislike the image quality, specifially the color noise in the clouds and sand and the strong sharpening halo around the guy, that made me knock off a point but this still scored a 6 from me.

Awesome, another shot that looks like it could be a floyd album cover. A bit literal of an interpretation, but the cpomosition, the tones, the isolated feel - you really nailed it. Great shot.

- Coming back to bump. This is really nice work.

Perhaps a slight profile, slight, would better portray the dark, surreal human experience of the lyrics.

this is so cool. It would have been perfect (so giving you 9) if the platform you are standing is also parallel to the horizon. its a very minor nitpick though. btw i am eager to know how did you manage to get rid of (or hide) the strings attached to two balloons.

Wonderful! Very Magritte-like image: makes you ask, what? where? why? I like the balance of composition, the use of silhouette, and the creative use of plastic gloves! Nice mutted colors. I can't decide if I'd prefer the line of the shore to be parallel with the horizon, or if having it at a relative slant helps make the viewer feel unsettled - which is certainly the effect of the song! 9

This is the most clever photo I've seen so far... how'd you get the "hands" to float in the air like that? String? Throw them? That having been said, There are a couple of problems w/ the photo. I feel it has been oversharpened b/c there is - I don't know what it's called - the little dots of noise in the sky. Also, the waves look a little "squared off," and the water is lighter in color between the legs, which is probably a residual from the sharpening. Finally, the picture gives me the impression of being tilted, even though the horizon is approximately straight, because the land is at an angle.

I'm guessing that since you used what looks like a wide-radius USM you know what you are doing. (BTW, there's a bit of a halo at the feet that's unfortunate) Sometimes Shadow/Highlights does that as well. Anyway, I don't think there are cloned sticks there, but I'm just not sure so I'm going to ask for validation. Look for it. 8

Ahhhhhh... you are familiar with the Pink Floyd art style of the late 80's / early 90's. This would have fit well with the artwork that went with The Division Bell. Either you know this, or just got it right on accident. Either way, I'll give you a 10, cause I'm impressed.
