Congrats on your 6th Place and just the sort of pooch I would like to have in a few years time...

Congratulations! The only thing I would change is to not have a pattern in the background.

Chris,
Obviously, a great photo. The soft focus and DOF are perfect. I'm not sure about the background - find the details a touch distracting - but the earthy tone is perfect to "warm" the gray dog. Congrats on that 6th place!

You let him go to a new home after that pleading look that said, "Please may I stay here with you?" Amazing that you got this setup and captured on the spur of the moment.

I gave this a 9 because I felt something in the background wasn't quite right. Perhaps it was the patterned border in the lower part that is a little distracting. Anyway I love it! Congratulations, Chris!

8 - Commented on this but it didn't 'stick'. Beautiful dog, not sure that the base and background are bringing out the beautiful coat and eyes as well as a variation may have. The background circular pattern - more centered for added overall balance, may have also given this an edge.

Very cute puppy. I like how you keep your set-up simple and clean. The rust red background works well with the greyish/brown tones of the dog. The white fur 'bed' it rests on offers a nice soft place for the puppy to rest not to mention it projects a subtle feel of softness to the viewer; the puppy and the fur are soft to touch if you just reach out. Lighting is great. There are no harsh shadows and we get to see every lovely detail in this pet portrait. The expression of the puppy also adds visual interest. With a cock of the head a dog/puppy seems to be studying us the viewer in curiosity. Great capture.

Technically, perfect. Actually, it's nearly completely perfect. I just personally would have prefered a more toned down background. Maybe a little less red. But more than that, the fuzzy blanket is what I'm not really keen on. Excellent picture though, that's a beautiful dog.

One of my favorite kind of dogs! Great lighting, photo quality, and cute expression from the pup. Not a huge fan of the set up because I don't think it goes with him (her?) as well as it could but I do appreciate the fact that you HAD a set up. If you had the means I'd say go with a set that plays off the pups features (blues maybe for the eyes).
