This was my original idea but wasnt sure how to pull it off properly so I shot some other image that I just wasnt happy with. A bonsai tree floating int he air. Then I helped Aimee with the lighting on her image Sunday and after she finished it I knew she was gonna crush me. So I talked her into helping me on mine.

I made a rectangle out of pvc pipe and taped poster board to it. Cut out holes for my hands and head - similar to my pea shot. I set up out on our back porch with the pvc between two tables and then some pergo flooring and bin lids around the pvc. I laid out dirt and mulch all around and then Aimee finished up the dirt around my face after I got situated. I had setup the camera on the tripod and had Aimee hit the plunger. Another self portrait so everyone will know its me. I need to come up with a different grimace. I hope this breaks a 6 so I can keep my streak running.

PP - RAW adjustments, some minor cloning, Gaussian blur on select layers, saturation/levels/selective color adjustments and then a bunch of dodging and burning, high pass sharpen, NI, resize for web.

Very nice job on maintaining the differentiation between the 's hair and the dirt in which he is mostly buried.

The body parts look disconnected, like the B movie "The Hand." The actual dirt looks great and full of detail for something so dark, and light hungry.

His expression looks a bit on the perplexed side rather than the frightened or desperate. It's a nice setup, although I also want more dirt on those arms. 6
