oh:)
raw adjustments (light temperature to make it look yellow/golden- contrast),
much dodge on the black background to remove all noise from it and make it smooth,
layers,
dodge on the clothes to make the shadows deeper,
burn on the closes to highlight,
healing brush on one tiny spot on the face,
stamp on the face,
adjustment layer with solid golden color,
adjustment layer with pattern: oil on canvas,
levels, curves,
blur on the face to remove the access of sharpening.

yeah, and much work studying old russian paintings from the 18th century.

Hey Svetlana.

This is exceptional... I agree with the critique club comment that it is a little too tight at the top... but that is being picky.... regarding votes, I think that in some ways your work is too artistic for this forum. I guess that most voters don't spend enough time on each photo to interpret the deeper meaning... as kteach mentions.. too out of the box for a 5 second view and vote...

Have you considered posting to other sites... your work would suite photo.net rather well for example.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

When I first voted on this one, I didn't see the connection to the challenge, and I think that may be the case of why this didn't score higher. When I think of James Bond, I think of movies, and maybe even some film grain for the older movies, but not a painted canvas picture.

That being said, I think this is a wonderful portrait, which really portrays a wonderful feeling. The pose, clothing, jewelery and lighting are all wonderful, and the treatment you've used to give it that canvas look feels authentic, which I often find not to be the case when some of those filters are used.

I think the biggest criticism I have is the cropping. It feels tight at the top, and too wide to the right. I'm not sure if I like so much being shown below the waistline... I might have cropped a bit off of the bottom to give more room at the top?

Overall, this was a creative interpretation for the challenge, but perhaps a bit too out of the box for some voters. The photo was well thought out, and beautifully processed.

this is the best of the challenge - using the "theme" of james bond instead of recreating a movie poster - points for execution, and creative!

You got three comments from me in the same day! I'm pleased that this is yours - another testament to your amazing talent and eye for subtle beauty.

You must have the most interesting wardrobe! Lovely "painting" - and great photography and post processing work. You really could make an excellent living doing portraits like this!

Svetlana, this is so beautiful. It is my favorite of the challenge. I am shocked it didn't score higher. You have really found a niche with this oil painting style. The costume and styling, pose, backdrop, lighting, and crop are all perfect, and you captured a very alluring expression. I think you could make a living at this. There are many people who would like an Old Masters style "painting" of a family member for their living room. Congratulations on a wonderful entry!

I love the processing. It looks like a faded photograph from years ago. 9

You know, I've never been a James Bond fan so I really can't tell how well this meets the challenge. This however, is a really nice portrait. I think the color and texture is great and would like to know how you did that. At first, I thought the texture was just the background but when I looked closely, I could see it in the face also. Great shot! 10

Yes, very nice! I love the vintage look you created here. Lighting and colors are excellent. She has a beautiful but shy expression - that works. Minus: too less negative space above her head. That makes the shot a bit "narrow" if you know what I mean.

Wow. Interesting take on this challenge. Beautiful and artistic like early photographs yet much like a painting. The expression, costume and lighting is fantastic.

Excellent portrait: the expression and poose, the pastels, the texture and the antique mood.
I also like your interpretation of the challenge, which is a little "pushy" and unconventional when comparing with most of entries, but I bought it! 10.

I very much light the post-processing on this, as it adds an old-world feel. It reminds me so much of the photos of the Romanovs, especially Grand Duchess Tatiana. Besides, it is very clever and funny. Great job!
