Well - I first shot an image of some flowers for this challenge (now in my portfolio) and it came out ok. Not my style, but I need to enter something to keep my DPCaholic status. And then I watched Aimee create her image for this challenge. We are up against each other in the WPL this week and I knew I had to come up with something better than what I had. It is debatable whether or not I did.

Again I go back to the inspiration of metatate. He submits some rocking images of his daughter and that is what I want to do as well. I bought the camera to take pics of my kids and my desire here at DPC is to do well with some of them. I brought Rowan out into the driveway with a white poster board on our garage. She sat there pretty well as I took some shots but never gave me the look I was wanting. I ended up going with this one because I think it best embodied her attitude while we were out there - hence the title.

I ended up editing this into b&w even though at first I was going for a selective desat thing with her eyes and lips in color. I felt this might be more DPC friendly and a better looking image overall. What is funny that on our monitor her cheeks and ears blend right into the background - unless I am looking at the screen from a funky low angle and then I see all the lines and detail in her face. I have no clue what others will see based on their monitors - but I was shooting for a high key effect. Hopefully I got it.

PP - RAW conversion with heavy exposure adjustment, highlights and shadows, along with saturation, sharpness and the noise reductions. In PS - levels, saturation adjustments to convert to b&w, minor cloning, spot blurring, dodging and burning (especially the eyes - hope they dont look too funky), NI, USM, resize for web, more USM and border

Oh you did GREAT with this one! As soon as I saw it in the challenge I just loved it. . .but I'm so dumb and thought she was a "he". Sometimes it's hard to tell at that age, but now. . of course. . she looks the epitome if feminine and beautiful!

This was one of my favorites! You did so well at capturing her little personality!

Everything is good about this image both photographically and for this particular challenge. Its strong tonality is its greatest strength. This should be a top finisher.

A bit too much blurred/smoothed (NI?) IMHO. But overall nice lighting and composition.
