Challenge: Free Study XV (Advanced Editing IV)
Collection: Challenges
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0L USM
Location: Eastham, Cape Cod, MA
Date: Nov 18, 2006
Aperture: f/11
ISO: 100
Shutter: 2 seconds
Date Uploaded: Nov 18, 2006

Shot at about 175mm. Tone mapped (minimally) from a single RAW exposure, exported to PS7

Relatively little PP from that point on: a slight tweak in Hue/Sat, a hint of gradient from the top, an application of High Pass filtration to crisp it up.

I love the composition, it works really well. I never manage to pull off 'minimalist' composed landscapes in color.

I like this and I gave you an 8 but I can't explain why. Maybe its the smooth gradation/transition of colors in the sky, the fact that its not too overly saturated, and that it is simple. It all works well for me.

Very elegant use of empty space, with strong but not overwhelming colors. Shame about the blown moon, but I belive not blowing it is not possible without HDR. The orange highlights making curves in the water make the shot special.

Amazing photo with some incredible color. I love all the negative space, but this is definitely one where you have to take it in a little at a time. The distance between moon and shore make it very difficult to view as a whole. Great job!

Looks a bit over-sharpened and over-saturated (see that red glow on the moon?), but a great wow-factor. Will probably do very well...

Good job capturing the earthshine on the shaded side of the moon! I like the colors. Best of luck to you in the challenge.
