5th Avenue in New York just before the 2006 Veterans Day parade began.

It really struck me how odd it looked to have no traffic. I mean, how often can you stand in the middle of 5th Avenue in the middle of the day and take pictures?

Shot while my wife, daughters, Dad, and stepmom were shopping in the doll store to my left. :)

Naturally, this was shot a few days before the Perspective IV challenge!

Great shot, i love the road going completely all the way out of the shot at the end, great leading lines, very nice job, adding to faves.

How appropriately named. And like you say, very bizzare to stand in the middle of an empty city street. Lots of nice lines created and one little circle.

WOW, not so often that I get a chance to find such an empty street anywhere around here. Nice shot, could benefit from better light usage.

This is a nice shot. I like shots of big cities. This is one place I have never been to before. I think it would be cool if you could bring out the color in the side buildings a little more. This would have been a great shot for perspective.

My first thought before reading your explanation was how did you make it so quiet there!!!! lol New York is many things one of which is full of noisey traffic!! Great image :o)

Really a very nice perspective shot! The lettering on the road is what makes it good to me.

this is fantastic. Always wanted to title a composition like this with word canyon.

That gradient really does the trick. NYC is a place of various perspectives. That surely is the way challenges happen around here - a week too early usually. Hope you get back to town soon. Happy Holidays.

Too bad about the timing -- this is a really nice perspective shot. You took great advantage of a great opportunity. I like that the sidewalks are dark. I barely notice that the street is ropped off for a parade.

Hard not to burn the sky in such situations. But the image is hard to resist photographing. Surely a candidate for HDR processing - but then again, Bloomberg is not going to let you use a tripod there, is he.

The near emptiness of the street really lends itself to the theme of your title. Cool photo, love the tones in the buildings.
