 This is a candid shot taken at the Riverwalk in San Antonio. I happened to be there a couple of days in a row and he was there both days just listening to the music, looking intense and sad just like that. The expression in his eyes looks so. .I don't know. . .beaten up by life or something. Yet he carried himself very distinguished and proud.

I was using my mega zoom lens so he didn't see me taking pictures -- but it was funny because someone sitting at a table next to me saw me taking pictures of "something" and started looking around trying to figure out what it was. When he figured out who I was photographing, he started feverishly taking pictures of him too :) Kinda confirmed to me that he does in fact have an interesting face that draws you in.

I know this will be a tough challenge to be competitive in, but I really love this photo and am proud of how it turned out :)

Sandy what an amazing image. I don't know how I missed it but am glad it popped up so I could get a chance to tell you how perfect an image you've captured. Great job!

Great find Sandy! This image caught me in thumbnail. I love the combination of textures on his hat and face. Very sharp image - I bet he would like it.

Oh Sandy, this is a surprise packet here to see that this is yours, as it is quite differant to what I have seen you do.
So powerful, and this is just a fantastic image, and so deserved to be on the front page. What a great score as well.

Now this is just awesome image here..... Wonderful strong capture, and love the textures you have captured so brilliantly.....Top shot in my book..... There are some excellent images, especially portraits, in this challenge, and this is definately one of the best ones IMO.

very clear focus, can see the pores of his skin. good tones, I like the crop and I think the expression is fantastic this is IMO 10.

Great range of the B&W tones,subject is perfect and sharp as a tak, and the DOF gives a real standout feel to the subject, good composition....

He still is smiling! I feel connected with your subject- you captured a happy ,joyfull person who seems to of gone through a lot during his life time. I Love everything about this image, from his hat down to his striped shirt. Strong composition, processing, and clairity.
