 This won POTD on November 2, 2006 at www.shutterbugs.biz! I am so excited!
I was out in my backyard taking photos of all the beautiful autumn leaves and happened upon this last flower in my neighbors garden. This dahlia's head was just hanging down and it looked like it was just waiting to die. I walked over and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it! I immediately cut it and brought it inside and proceeded to take some very lovely photos. I now have a beautiful reminder of that most beautiful flower. I think the curled petals were caused by the warm sunny days and cold nights maybe. Anyway, I am so glad that I took the time to walk over to that forlorn looking flower and see the beauty in it!

Lovely dahlia! Mine died before I could get a good shot :-( I really like how some of the petals in the center are curled...adds some interest.
