Hehe, I thought about that. But I never sell any prints on DPC Prints anyway. And it's only one photo. I have hundreds of Death Valley photos, some of which are probably better than this one. Oh, and if anyone does want to buy a calendar (featuring "Mystery Rock"), I have them available here: //www.deviantart.com/print/399331/. I'm giving them away as Christmas gifts this year.

Pull that file! You're giving away a beautiful photo for no good reason. I'd hate to see you go into a store and see your image on a calendar - when you didn't get a dime for it.

I appreciate your thoughtfulness and the intent of your post - you are a credit to DPC.

Thanks for sharing the original. What an amazing difference. It went from a flat picture to WOW! Not too much post processing in my book. The key question is did you want to show "what it looked like" or create a work of art. I go for the second and you definitely succeeded. Great photo! Ann C

Yeah, the road is pretty bad, although right now all the roads in Death Valley have recently been graded and are in the best condition they've been in years. I didn't get any flats on the road, but I did spend several hours helping some people from New York that got two flat tires in their rental 4X4. They never did make it to the Racetrack! Incidentally, after making it back to the paved road, I got a flat tire after about a mile. It was just a nail and not a rock puncture, so my tire was OK. I guess there really is such a thing as karma!

This image is surreal. Looks like something out of a movie. Can't wait to find out what's behind this mystery. Definitely a 'stand-out' image, and for that reason, I think it is sure to do well. I believe it will capture a ribbon for itself and having said that, time to bum it up a notch :)

Usually I do not like heavily saturated landscapes, but this one is an exception. I think it is because of the balance between the fore- and background and the gradation in the sky and on the ground. There is simply a lot of balance.
I first saw these walking rocks in Fred Miranda's gallery. A very cool subject. I can see from the background that this one was shot in the same location. The composition on this one is great and I really like the way the light works here. Only 10 so far.

While the burn effect in the corners is a little strong for my taste, the photo has such strong elements that I am very drawn to it. I really like hte cobble stone look of the ground and I'm not sure what to think of the 'mystery rock'. The orange and blude with the mountain/sky are very nice contrasts for the composition. Great job and I'm glad to give it a 10.

I really like almost everthing about this image, and especially the warm colours on the hills and the placement of the mystery rock. I think the image would be even more effective, though, without the very heavy vignetting in the top corners.

Ah, love this one. I know this place in Death Valley. You got amazing light on the hills. Did you replace the dull rock with this blue one? I've never seen on this color in this place. I give this a 10.

one of the most photographed subjects in death valley! the vignetting is too much.. is that lens or did you add in editing ?

Really like how the dark gradient works great for this image. I've seen photos of this location before and I really like your take on it. The PP(or filters used) really make it more dramatic.

I looked at this last night and wasn't terribly impressed, but now that I've come back to it I think I appreciate the post processing a lot more. I think this stands out pretty well, but it might get decked for being too digital artsy.

Great colors and good composition. The only setback is the double dark arches visible and i guess they are part of post-processing. If you only kept the arch in the sky I would have rated 9 or 10.
