It bugs me a little that you lost the top of the hat and the bottom of his hand, but a fine shot nonetheless.

I like the use of sepia and showing the whittling; I think I would have liked it better with a tighter crop on the hands.

This has a nice feel to it and does a nice job of telling a story of who this person is. Probably getting hit a bit on some face showing, but I like it. Good luck in the challenge.
