Not a great photo, but I hope you find it funny--
First of all no light at all-- I rarely use anything but iso 100 on my 717, but bumped it to 200 and it wasnt too noisy..
I Cropped, adjusted levels-- and USM ( the usuall routine)

If you'd like to see how another photographer made basically the same picture ten years back look up the archives of the Detroit Free Press, Magazine section for fall fashions, 1993. The photographer was Steve Nickerson. The biggest difference, I see, between your photo and Steve's pic was Steve did his photographic illustration for the fashion section as the person tied to the roof of the car was a model wearing Calvin Klein clothing. His picture drew many complaints from the readership... they wrote protestsing letters for weeks bringing about an apology from the Executive editor Heath Meriwether. Also, the same picture may be seen on the cover of The National Press Photographers Assoc. NEWS PHOTOGRAPHER magazine dated February 1994. (Story on page 33).

Hey Tim, delicious sense of warped humor, which is in short supply in some circles.
What a great Mom you have! Neat lady, with a fine sense of the absurd. Your are a lucky young man.

This just can't be real. For a start you'd have to cut away the chassis to get the deer in and secondly, you'd never get it to sit still like that. ; )

Great message Buzz - don't shoot animals for fun...

As for the person who doesn't like the dead deer, how do you know for sure it's dead?? hahaha.

I'm not a hunting fan either, and this picture expresses what I wish really would happen to hunters.

Thanks for all of you you took the time to comment.
39 Comments! and most were positive.

I thought of this idea late, and on Tuesday after work I thought I try it out--

Like I said, there was NO LIGHT,, so I bumped the ISO to 200, and wasnt sure how it was gonna turn out (200 ISO on some digi-cams can be real noisy)-- but it cam out clean enuf and didnt have any "shake" warning--

The dead hunter is my mom, she was really into the idea and we alot of fun--

I know its a low scoring challenge, but thanks for all the comments and votes--

Now look out, Im going for blue next!!

Here are some outakes from the shoot--

Just a thought, since you can't get his hooves on the wheel, did you think of leaving the door partially open so it looks like he's just getting into the car?

High quality image and good framing. Hilarious. Most obviously staged shots at DPC are not done well. This one works. It is obvious you had a blast doing this shoot. You were having fun taking a good pictures. That is what this site is all about.
