Great use of DOF to isolate subject from his background. The high contrast definitely contributes to the intensity of the portrait.

Excellent portrait, but I'm seeing mostly highlights and mid tones. Terrific, but I might do a single color adjustment of black to bring up the shadows more, creating more contrast (just for this challenge - the image alone is GREAT).
