Wonderful shot!

Looks like no-one understood this then Rick. Surprised that so many people thought the exposure was out - it obviously isn't - and also surprised that more people didn't appreciate that the effect might have been deliberate. Hope it doesn't put you off trying this sort of thing again :-)

An impressive number of birds, but very out-of-focus and grainy...I don't know if you were trying for that effect, but I find it very distracting, making this really more a picture of bird shapes than birds.

wooow too photoshopped

To washed out. Did you over sharpen or etc?

Keep your mouth closed! This is a tough shot, and good try. It is overexposed, a faster shutter speed may have corrected alot of the problems with this shot. would have stopped the motion more (blurry) and darkened up the sky, and fixed the overexposure some. Keep at it. Only learn from trying and trying again.

I like the idea... That's a LOT of birds! It is a little too overexposed for me though and a little too noisy/grainy where the clouds have parted and revealed the sky.

This might have been better darkened and sharpened some. Certainly interesting with all those birds.

Woah, scarey! Looks like a scene from some horror film.... interesting concept.

Interesting, but far too manipulated for my "photo" tastes (sorry, my bad). Did you add grain? (see sky) 5 Rob the Swash

memorable shot, but I'm undecided as to whether or not the processing really adds anything worth adding. I think perhaps it does: a little sense of mystery, perhaps. Feel there's a lack of depth to the image however - they all seem to pretty much the same distance away (obviously they aren't, but the range isn't so great). I think also it might have been a pretty dull image without the level of processing, and whilst it helps that it can't really completely mask it. Still gets a 8, for mood if nothing else.

Neat composition. I don't really like the coloring, but I do find this interesting and like it the more I look at it. You captured the challenge.

First impression for this photo is that it is too grainy and over sharpened however at second glance I like it. It reminds me of the movie "The Birds". Maybe the title Homage to Hitchcock would fit this photo better?

Whoa! I hope that you did not get hit by any falling matter. This image is way overexposed. In a situation like this, you should meter the sky first and then set you camera for those high light exposures. I do not know what camera you have or the cercumstances of this shot so I can only be broad in my suggestion.

An interesting effect, but the composition of the pigeons looks random and chaotic. I like the use of contrast and grain. 6

This is so interesting. It looks almost like a painting. I love how the flock of birds is spackled across the sky in such a random flurry and what I suppose is actually an overexposure causing the clouds to seem so stark (I'm not a photographer so I don't know techniques, all I really know is the affect and I like it here). I wish your title was as creative as the shot. ;-)

sharpened up a bit much for my taste, but I like the way you captured all the birds in action
