This took some effort to get to. Salmon Beach is located near Tacoma, WA close to Point Defiance. The location is only open to residents, so we obtained permission to walk (not drive) in. After a ~2 mile downhill hike you take the famous "100 stairs" at a crazy incline to get to the water & then hike some more. Luckily the tide was out, or we wouldn't have been able to take the beach & get to the "trail". An 80' scramble straight up the rocks to get to the tunnel. Once again, my wife is a trooper. After all of that to get the shot, the HARD part is going back UP.

Funny you should say that. Actually, none. I did run a pass on it, but it made the rails look unnatural, so didn't go with it. :o)

Classic use of lines here to lead the viewer. I wonder if this would have had more impact with a little more rail? The "black" entrance is competing for dominance here. Overall, nicely done. Good luck.

The curve of the rails lead you gently into the tunnel, removing any possible apprehension of entering that very dark and foreboding tunnel. Great job!

I like the idea of this picture, but something doesn't look right about the tunnel. I would imagine that the tunnel would fade into darkness rather than so abruptly at the opening. Was this due to post-processing?
