Thank you for all your votes and comments. This was my first shoot with a live model, and I want to thank him very much for his input, suggestions and advice. I could not have done this shot without him, [and yes, before you say it, what I mean is that I could not have done this without his help]

I wanted the impression of my subject leaving the shoot, ruining the setup in the process and leaving me with "No Subject".

The 'stage' consists of a large glass vase on a chair, which is hidden behind the black backdrop, fruit spilled everywhere, a picture frame, a piece of red nylon fabric with gold and silver stars, and a model who is

[1] balancing himself tiptoe on one foot, whilst
[2] keeping the red fabric modestly in place,
[3] not knocking the glass vase off the chair with this left foot,
[4] not knocking into the picture frame, which only balanced against one arm of the chair underneath the backdrop and
[5] replacing the orange on the edge of the picture frame frequently because it kept falling off during the shoot and
[6] keeping himself from falling over by only just being able to reach with his left hand a low table

Simple!

I used a strobe on the right placed at floor level with an umbrella, another strobe to the left at about the level of the model's left hand, and the camera flash.

Camera Settings: f8, 1/80 sec, ISO 80

All post-processing was done using Paint Shop Pro. In fact all the editing was done thinking that this was a Basic Editing competition, until the last few minutes before submission, I then cloned out a few dust specks and small reflections on the background.

Crop
Curves
USM Radius 40, Strength 50, Clipping 0
Cloned out a few "dots" and a couple of small reflections in the background.
Resize and sharpen for web viewing
Add border

Finally, given the imagery within the picture frame, I thought "End of Subject" as a title was apt.

I just came back to this - the notes are nearly as good as the shot! This remains one of my favorites in recent challenges. In fact, if it's not already so marked, I shall have to rememdy that situation. Really, really a wonderful piece of work and one of which you should be very rightly proud!

I love this! Maybe too much of a "subject" for some but to me meets the challenge quite well.
