Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Camera "Self Portrait" (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM for Nikon
Location: Sarah's Room, Melbourne Australia
Date: Aug 13, 2006
Aperture: F6.3
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1 second
Galleries: Black and White, Self Portrait
Date Uploaded: Aug 13, 2006

I placed a mirror above the camera and lenses on a white board. Used the self timer. Used a reflector as well with light coming in from a window.

Cropped, Flipped the Canvas, Adjusted the angle of the shot by rotating the canvas, Levels and Noise reduction, sharpen, frame, resize, USM and that's it really.

It's not my favourite shot, but I think it might do OK...mid 5's??? It may not get votes with the plethora of Canon people on dpc!

haha. you can probably attribute your low scores from the canon folk. other then using a nikon, this picture has little to no errors. great work. love the light. =]

This is awesome. It was very tempting to vote you down for the jealous factor with all those great lenses. . .but I refrained :) Just kidding! This was awesome and one of my highest rated ones. So clean, crisp. Beautiful :)

Is there something I'm not seeing? Does the shape mean anything? Is it some kind of weird four eyed lion?

voted this a six. it's technically really good; most of it is nice and sharp and it's also nicely lit. however, composition feels a bit cluttered and claustrophobic. and regrettably, it feels overall, to me, a bit flat and lifeless. it's because i feel disconnected with it; maybe i think a portrait should convey something about the subject? still, meets the challenge, and technically grand. so a 6.

Nice composition. Good idea. Only flaw is red-ish shadows around the objects.
