Just ran across this one in your profile, though I know its 5 years old, I still needed to leave a comment.

Really nice, though I like anything with a bicycle. Only improvement I can suggest is to ditch the Shimano 105 and get some Campy gear. ;-}

What happened to your "...is seen to be artifice..." comment?? I was rather fond of it.

If images are but a bulk commodity to be quantified, ordered, and barely glimpsed, then what of the words said unto them? Attach to them no significance and give them no permanence, but let them remain ephemeral, false, and vague, as memory.

Wow, 6th place! Not bad for my 4th challenge. That sets a new high for me. Thanks everyone who voted, and especially everyone who left comments. Yes, the bike was on a wind trainer and those are my hairy legs. I used the remote to shoot while riding. My initial impulse was to make a bracket that mounted to the bike and held my camera, but I didn't get time to shoot anything until about 9pm the night of the submission deadline. Barely made it. Minimal time to run it through PS. The difference in color balance between the flash and the tungsten light did kind of bother me and I'd probably take 2 shots and combine them in PS using layers, but that wouldn't have been legal for the challenge.

Great composition. The movement of the pedal gives the shot a lot of dynamic. Gives it great movement. I like how the pedal and the foot is blurred but everything else like the frame is perfectly focused.
Might make a great ad for "Shimano" too.

Well I have gone through most of the images and this is one of only a couple I call Ten! your use of light and movement created ART! I had thought of this very idea....that being said my shot would not have been as nice as this. colors, light, DOF.ect ect...again a ten! good luck:)

Excellent shot. How did you manage to keep the camera so steady while running alongside the bike? ; )
Great motion blur, it works really well, and good composition.

This is really quite cool. I'm curious how you caught this, how much you cropped, if this person was actually cycling by etc. avery unique sports shot indeed :-) Great composition, everything is very well done, I would have liked it maybe a little brighter but I understand that probably wasn't possible. Was the bike stationary? I don't know how you could get it otherwise. I'm going for a -9- on this shot. Well done!

This would make a great Shimano add. Great effect and use of lighting.

Awesome!! This is my favorite shot in the Sports challenge! I've logged many miles on my trainer, and I wish I had a shot like this! Excellent work! Good luck in the challenge. 10 from me!

Super shot!. Love the sense of speed even though I'm guess this is an exercise bike. Good creative idea.

Missing the aspect of competition but with out a doubt great action shot on a warm up mill! If this isn't on a warm up tread mill then it deserves a 20!!!!

Great slow flash shot - certainly captured some action with this! The hot highlights on the chainring don't bother me at all - works really well. Good entry (9)
