 Wow! Errrmm wow. Thank you! Dunno what to say.
I’m new to DPChallenge and am very impressed by the community that seems to exist here and by the wonderful work on display. I feel very honoured to have done so well in my first challenge and for all the great comments you have given.

A few people have asked to see a little more of the action in this photo. This pic is full frame apart from trimming one dimension to make it square but I have added some other shots of the surfers to my currently sparse portfolio. I will add some more when I get chance.

My first challenge entry! So far I haven't had time to submit anything but I was lucky this week as the challenge just happened to fit with some pictures I was doing.

It was a blisteringly hot day and the skiers put on a good show. I’m not sure how high he was at the time of this picture. In some of the other shots where I zoomed further out, you can see the water surface and he appears to be about 20 feet above it – impressive stuff.

I was lucky with the light too. The strong sunlight allowed me to shoot at a high shutter speed with the ISO still at minimum. The water acted as a giant fill in reflector, keeping the contrast on the skiers just within manageable limits.

Post processing:
Individual RGB curves.
Crop to square composition.
Resize and sharpen for web viewing.

This has to be definately in my book one of the very best "ACTION SHOTS" ever on DPC.....

In my book a "classic", thats for sure, great timing, great composition, clarity, and color, and just a fun photo, that works..... Awesome.....

I like the action in this phot, and the composition is great. What I don't like is that the focus seems to have locked on the front binding and not on the face. The binding is much crsiper than the face, and I think the picture would have been better the other way around. Great effort!

This will be the only high scoring photo that I comment on (I've been concentrating on those that need critiquing). Your shot IMO should be a ribbon winner. I really can't find anything wrong with this shot . . . well, maybe if you would have had more lake in the picture, it would be better. Sort of looks like he's skiing on grass. Congrats on such a great photo.
