My first member challenge...not a great shot, but it was done quickly to get it in here. And thought the kitchen was the best backdrop for it.

Cool idea. Would have done much better if it was sharper and the noise was cleaned up.

This is just too sick for words. You're going to do well here, probably not win alot of ribbons- nothing about your photography, just the way things are with "out of the box" ideas. But people will certainly talk about you, just ask the cheeseman.

Keep shooting. I have got to show this one to my assistant.

You posted in the forums asking for comments to help you improve, so here goes...

As most commenters noted, the shot is out of focus, which is it's biggest downfall. You did attempt to give it a background of some sort, which is a good start, but the poor lighting also didn't help your cause. Perhaps finding a white balance setting on the camera would help to get rid of the yellowish cast to the picture. And in reading your comments, you said that you did this last minute just to get it in. Usually, I'd say that is one of the things that dooms a photo in the challenges. Not giving yourself enough time to properly set up, shoot and process a shot and putting it in a contest with hundreds of other photos which people have taken the time to work through is setting it up for failure in most cases. Better to just sit out a challenge than to enter something that you're not happy with or proud of.

Hope something in this comment was helpful to you... and good luck in future challenges!

... hu hu ... OK ... I'm gonna be critical so just take it as if I'm trying to help because i am ! :] He might not be seen due to the following constructive reasons: He is out of focus. He is not quite centered but even if he is, the angle and POV and background are not overly interesting or clean. He is raw lumps of meat or something which is very hard to make look appealing. He is not really abstract IMO. The white balance appears to be a little off. Having said that, it actually made me hungry for some reason. I'm going to eat. Keep shooting!

OOF, harsh shadows, and not creatively composed - sorry but I don't care for this one that much.

humourous subject choice. The lighting used does little to enhance the photo, perhaps more of a side light might have added more interesting shadows. The background colour may have been better had it been more opposite rather than so similar in tones to your subject.

Definitely creative, but for me the so-so lighting and lack of focus detracts from this shot.

Too blurry and not abstract... I'm afraid this one won't do well in this challenge. Better luck next time.

Maybe had you cooked the meatballs?? or used powdered donuts it would be a little better. The glare from the forks is a bit distracting too.

Your photo is not in focus. It is also not abstract, which to me has to do with shapes, lines, form and colour.
