Wind turbines at the Altamont Pass Wind Resource Area near Livermore, in the Silicon Valley.

Damned sensor dust...

Post challenge:
We were driving up to Berkeley for a wedding when this idea struck. I'd seen these turbines several times before, and they usually were not spinning much. Of course when we got to Livermore, they _were_ spinning, not fast, but some... Just my luck :) Still, I thought an illusion of calm would be okay, too, besides sun was about to set into a nice sunset...

Had very little time for edits on my laptop, just adjusted color temperature, saturation and contrast in RAW conversion, sharpened, cropped, and neatimaged. Thanks to basic editing rules did not even have to clean up sensor dust :)
After I came home I noticed that the shot is slightly tilted to the left, but it was too late, the voting had begun. I thought I would be punished by voters, but nobody commented on that, so perhaps it is my imagination?

Anyway, thanks so much for nice comments and high grades!

Both delicate and lovely with its warm colors. There is a desire to sympathize with these energy producers as they are left standing so still. Great image. Congratulations on your RED.

Adrian,
to tell you the truth, a few turbines were spinning, not fast, but some... :). I hope it is not a reasan for DQ :). 1/3000 was not because of that, even 1/30 would've been sufficient to stop the motion, simply it was still pretty early and light, and I was shooting right into the sunset.

I'll be interested to see where this was taken. I haven't seen bent tips on the blades around here. A really lovely capture of the colors in the sky - even if they've been enhanced in post processing.

I find it very good idea... beautiful sky just pitty they stand so chaotic.

What is that blur above the windmill to the left and forefront of the image?
It spoils what is otherwise a damn fine shot, and very nearly would have walked away with a definite 10 from me.

WOW!!! Big fan here for sun and sky touching with such vibrant colors. The silhouette of the 'No wind" mill action just pulls this all together. Unfortunate for that big blob over the left mill.

very nice photo... one thing though, i think u made a mistake in editing or something, there is a smudge, or half circle above the windmill on the left side.
