Greetings from the Critique Club!

What a beautiful shot, I immediately got the feeling of lonliness and sadness which translate very well to desolation when I first glanced at this shot.

Your model did a very well in that aspect and seeing your comments below I understand how. A few things jumped out at me though. First was the pink/blue sky. Very upbeat and contrasting to the mood you seem to be trying to set and what is accomplished or conveyed. Perhaps if this was taken to a sepia or b/w tone to remove the colors or even adjust just the reds/blues to make them moodier or to better help convey the feeling.

I like the overall composition of the shot, the model in the third right and the way the line of the horizon comes down to her and then starts to rise again behind her. Very nicely done.

Sharpness was mentioned in the earlier comments and it is a small issue here in that with your model just out of focus but the rest in, it takes away from the overall feel again.

And one more tiny thing that is bothering me, is the pocket line on her skirt. That line where the wind has pushed the skirt against her body and outlines the pocket underneath. I think it's a pocket line, can't really tell but the color difference between it and the rest of the garment is a bit distracting, a tiny thing but something I noticed.

Again, wonderful work, good luck in future challenges! Hope my comments help!

great reflections...the breeze blowing her hair and pants really adds to the overall shot...
(and yes that sharp focus will help)
nice work..

THANK YOU ALL! For the votes and comments.
Yes, my model is a bit out of focus. I'll try to work on that.
BOOMTAP left me a comment saying that my model looked like she was contemplating some sort of sad event in her life...! Her dad had died not 2 weeks before!
Your comments are very helpfull AND encouraging.
Thank you again!!!

I have a feeling this could be a tad sharper.
I like it though...

Nice composition but without the title it seems like she's meditating and not desolate. I suppose the choice of her dress and pose has some role in that.Lovely colors and the way the water and sky form a single element. It might have been more impressive without the model. 6

This is very pretty, but it would look more desolate without the pretty pink sky. Sunsets/sunrises say 'happy' to me, not sad.

I love the composition; the pink tone is nice too, but there is a harsh contrast that makes it look digital; still a great shot;

Good pic with an appropriate pose for your model.

Nice tones and colors. Subject could be sharper IMO. Comp and sky are really nice.

Great Shot and generally the light but would like to see a little more light on the models face, maybe a bit of bounced light of a reflector as though the puddle that is filled with light is lighting her slightly, great shot none the less and good luck

The edge between the woman and the sky is very harsh - and she doesn't seem to be in focus.

i like how the wind moved the models hair, adds to the overall image

I like how this one is in color, and captures desolation. I think the temptation would have been to go BW and the color adds so much to this shot. It looks as if she is contemplating some sort of sad event in her life. The model really sold this.

This is a 'nice' image, its all technically there, but it doesn't inspire me for some reason. It bothers me that I can't provide you with a view as to why.

I like the way the diagonal lines of the horizon converge upon the model. But there's something about the colours that bothers me a bit - the clouds seem so pink, yet that same pink cast isn't on the model's white top. They just don't seem to blend well. Still, the composition makes it a good pic.
