About 1 of 12 people are red/green color blind, a condition more frequent among men than women. I knew a man who discovered his color blind condition in grade school when classmates laughed at him for claiming his tabby cat was green. Picking strawberries is a challenge for the red/green color blind, since ripe strawberries look green. From what I've read, Red/Green color blindness can limit people from entering certain professions including airline pilots, ship captains or police officers. Color blind photographers must learn to adjust their perception of color balance, both in the act of making the photo as well as in post-processing. This simple entry "color blind" is a tribute to all the DPC folks who see red as green.

The photo entered for this challenge is a close up of a green lime, post-processed to red.

I'm red/green colour blind AND I have trouble with blue and purple (probably the red in the purple is the problem).

Love this photo. Very funny.

Downsize then upsize? or a red sheet?

I was a non-voter on this image (rather than a 1 voter). Not sure which is better now I have read your genuine and interesting account (and nephoto's below). That just goes to show that I should learn to give the benefit of the doubt... ;-)

I am one of those red/green colorblind photographers you are speaking of, so I found this pretty comical. I found out I was colorblind as a child when I thought the grass was red :) Anyways, on a side note, the military often look for colorblind folk to be snipers because we have the ability to pick out camouflage due to the lack of blended colours that we see. I thought that was interesting.

I took this odd entry on an old Sony Mavica which uses 3.5 floppy disks without any EXIF proof of original photo. Oh well...

Thanks for the comments and fine votes on this oddity.

Here's a cheer to all you green/red color blind folks in DPC who daily adjust your inner color balance just to meet us where we assume the rest of the world is also standing.

Ah yes! Entering a solid color as a "photo" is one approach to the brown, especially when the color is opposite of the challenge. I like it as art though, has a lot to say. More than some of the other photos in this challenge =). Hope you'll get a comment from someone who is color blind and thinks this is green, that'd be funny. 10 for entering with boldness and making people think.

Grrrrrrr.....this one is a struggle for me - do I vote really low because it the photo itself doesn't fit the challenge, or do I vote really high because it took guts and creativity to use this photo with such a title?

Ya know, I'm not even sure what a green-colorblind person WOULD see, but somehow this isn't JUST a cheap gimmick to win - I'm giving it a 9...especially since I am so horrible at titling my pics!

I wondered if someone was going to do something like this. I didn't see it in the thumbnails, so it came as a bit of a surprise, after voting 14%, though. Good luck - a lot of people won't get it. :-Þ

So sad to see someone do this in this type of challenge..... I would give you a "0", but they don't have them avaible to choose, so it must be a "1" and this is the first "1" I have ever given, in all the challenges that I have voted on.
