Photographer’s Notes
• I’ve been wandering around trying to improve on my architecture photo for a few days and found myself at the Chateau St. Michelle winery in Woodinville, Washington (USA) this morning. I had hoped to photograph the chateau for architecture but found this instead.
• The winery has lavish grounds open to the public. They hold concerts on the grounds during the summer. The Washington Dinner Drain stops here for wine tasting mid-way through its trip. If you visit the Seattle area, it’s a pleasant place to visit.
• If ever there were evidence of the need for larger pixel dimensions and file size, this photo is it. It’s nice at 640 x 400 and 150K, but it’s a lot better bigger!
• And finally, yes, “Norwegian Wood” is a Beatles song! So no dnmc here, okay? Okay! Here are the lyrics:

"I once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me.
She showed me her room, isn't it good, norwegian wood?
She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn't a chair.
I sat on a rug, biding my time, drinking her wine.
We talked until two and then she said, "It's time for bed."
She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh.
I told her I didn't and crawled off to sleep in the bath.
And when I awoke I was alone, this bird had flown.
So I lit a fire, isn't it good, norwegian wood.

A portrait of art, which has a refreshing mood to it.

Using a new formula....
0-2 Meets the Challenge = 2
0-2 Technical Merit = 2
0-4 Interest/Creativity = 2
0-2 The "wow factor" = 1
Final score: 7

Amazing details, color, and lighting! They work well with the title, too.

My only suggestion here would be to burn in the bright left-hand side. I think you need to keep it for the great compositional element of the curving branches, but it is slightly distracting from the rest of the photo.

I don't know if it's Norwegian but it looks gorgeous. My only complaint is about the dark area(actually the whole right part of the photo). Snce yuo got the shade there maybe you could go a little bit forward and catch the sunny area.

Very nice local. Nice tonality moving from light through to dark. Needs a subject though like a person walking or kids playing or a bike or something...

Lovely sylvan scene but does not capture the spirit of the song! 6

Put a norwegian flag there and I may have guessed!

Beautiful colors, although they look almost unnatural.
