I was using another match to light them. I had a candle burning all the while with me and kept changing matches and burning them. there are 3 matches lined up here and I lit the last one and started clicking to capture the moment first one lights up.
I will also post a link to the setup I used.

I love how close you cropped/shot this one. Definitely deserves a ribbon. I like how you went with only warm colors for the challenge (e.g. instead of using blue smoke). WOW.

I'm not a pyromaniac - honestly but I am strangely drawn to flames. This is an excellent closeup and almost abstract. It may be my eyes after looking at this for so long but the match isn't quite horizontal to me (bumping to an 8).

Great capture of one of the first split-seconds of a match flame! I hope you didn't have to go through a whole box to get this one, but it was certainly worth all your great effort!
I would love to gain your permission to use this in PowerPoint!

Lovely close up. I imagine that is a match behind the match flaring away in order to preserve the visual symbol of the front match.

Great photo, colors are just great. I also think that the border works very well here.

Such a great shot. It is classic and almost a cliche, however you have pulled it off well. The colors and framing of this are very pleasing. An alround excellet work.

Ahh...the winner. Gorgeous. Great idea (and different) to take the shot so close up that the flame was more about the colors than the shape. Really stands out. 10
