In fact I got this idea from a photo magazine some time ago, when I saw a similar self portrait. A man held an apple in front of his face and I decided to do some execution of that idea in my self portrait.

Post processing in Photoshop: Crop, contrast, hue/saturation, dodge&burn, Lasso tool, NoiseNinja, USM.

I find this utterly amusing. Magritte is in there somewhere. I often ask my bird the same question. I get the same expression from him also. :) Lighting a little bright on the right but an excellent image with a great concept. 9

I love the use of the prop, and how everything is B/W, but the orange. Excellent.

Cute idea, but I think I would have preferred it without the selective desaturation, or at least with the orange partially desaturated. It looks too saturated to me.

The face is in focus, which is good in a portrait. However, the orange really draws attention to the hand which is slight soft. That is a bit distracting.

A custard pie might have worked as well.
