Hehe a ribbon, it`s been a while :)
This has been done a billion times before but i thought it would work well with this challenge. I choose the nikon brand bile yellow colour for the background which maybe was a mistake. If i had more time i would have used canon red but i only have sigma lens caps. I used my canon 350d for the photo as i have no macro lens for the nikon d50.
Sprayed water on to a sheet of glass about 10 inches above lens cap on yellow paper. Focused on the drops and fired away.

The 1st one like this on DPC and a better example Here
Another one of mine using same technique.

Some out-takes.

Thank you.

Brilliant shot, Mark, but it resulted in me getting beaten up by my wife! She found the image a little disturbing as it looked like a lot of eyes looking at her - which it does - and she took her angst out on me! She thought it was a great shot, though.

Ouch - but we all have to suffer for our art - or yours in this case!

Well deserved ribbon, too.

Congrats on yet another ribbon mate, those blue ones seem to elude you but what an impressive display of red and yellow ones!

yours adds a different quality, MB. It has a lucid, dreamlike effect missing in the other "type" of shots like this. And the yellow only adds to that effect and I say it was a good choice. Congrats on getting back up to speed with your winning ways...

I love the 3d effect in this photo. I like that its not as symetrical so it appears less "sterile" as some of the other expample of this technique that I've seen.

Very good use of the water droplet idea, though whatever it is, it looks kinda slimy. Like the little itty bitty drops.

Interesting choice of colors, but a great effect. (Implying I'd prefer another color besides "bile"!) But regardless, WELL DONE, and on the mark of the theme! 8

Far and away the best shot of this challenge. Nice to see something this unique in a challenge that frankly I thought was pretty lame (including my shot).

Congratulations

I hope this is explained. I've had some theories but can't convince myself they would work. Nice, bizarre image. The "yellow" adds to the other-worldly look. The sharpness is remarkable.

Idea not the most original but exectuted pretty well, good that you used yellow as in the nikon logo. However, image is a bit busy for my taste, too many small droplets inbetween the big ones. Got a 6 from me.
