::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
A truely underrated and fantastic entry into this challenge.

Composition:
person on thirds .. yt is does seem contrived .. the building up of candy and mags is just like I think it should be for this type of shop.

Subject:
Meets the challenge extremely well.

Technical (Colour and light):
Flourescent (I think that is above the person) is hard .. and here it worked ... good sharp colours and lovely movement capture.

To grow its vote?:
I ahve no idea but your commentors did .. re engaging the person etc .. I think it would like fake personally .. I think it is great as it is.

Summary:
You have an awesome eye ... keep up the work.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

Great photograph; a perfect interpretation of an environmental portrait. His environment is literally closing in on him and it's great. His position in the frame adds even more interest. Well done.

This seems to be more of a candid than a portrait. It is also too busy for me. I think less shop and more assistant would have worked better.

Wish she was just standing there looking at the camera, doesn´t really "feel" like a portrait, more of a candid because of that. Didn´t take away points for that though. Like the shot, got a 7 from me, love that it´s so busy and still my eye is drawn to her.

Would have been much improved if the subject was looking into the camera

The forground/background is sort of busy and the subject gets a little lost. I think this would have mad a better portrait if the subject was looking at the camera. Definately tells a story, though, and is an interesting shot.

This shot definitely satisfies the challenge... kind of looks like a collage because of all the products in the shop, yet the assistant stands out. Exposed nicely and it works because everything is in focus. Good luck with the voting because this shot is 'out of the box'

Very much an environmental portrait, and well portrayed. I can't help thinking though, that perhaps a closer view of the shop assisant and a bit less of the shop may have even more impact - just to give more emphasis to the portrait element.

Love the colors and movement, but I sense this as a candid and not a portrait. I'd love to have her looking at you, even smiling.
