 This photo was taken directly under the flight path of Regan National Airport, from a small park called Gravelly Point, about 500 yards from the end of DCA's Runway 1. The planes were landing tonight, so the lights you see are the landing lights and wing markers of a US Airways 747 on final approach. You can literally hear the wake turbulence after the planes go overhead. They are probably about 500-800 feet overhead at this point. An amazing experience I _will_ repeat.

Simple post processing to stay within basic rules... Crop, Curves, Resize, Neat Image, Sharpen.

I love the streaking lights, but, altogether, the picture seems to have too much empty space. (I don't know how that might have been dealt with [sincerely].)

Excellent anticipation on catching the plane turning. Is this the spot over the river where all planes going into Regan have to make that shapr turn?

Great idea! Very smart to cathup a plane. This is not a so interesting shot as your idea. May be improving the composition including some other components. But I like so much of this idea.
