Greetings from the Critique Club Sally!

Simply put - a great capture and perfect for the challenge. It's very difficult to comment on technicals for this shot as I don't necessarily think that technicals are the most important point for photojournalism shots like this one. I will comment as to how I think you might've gotten a better score in a perfect world.

The angle hurt you here. I can see by the caution tape that you didn't have much choice (hence the "perfect world" comment above) but this shot makes the viewer want to see as much of the house burning as they do the survivors making it out okay. The same angle hinders a sense of connecting with the victim as you can't see the child's face. The caution tape itself is a bit distracting as well.

Overall a good image for this challenge indeed.

Thanks for the opportunity to critique this image Sally.

Cheers - Phil

Good timing and good capture. Like how you can just see the house in the background. The person being carried looks like only a pair of feet.. wish you could see their head or more of their body on the left of the firefighter.

I feel like this one doesn't have enough of a balance between looking like journalism and yet still being a well done photo. It's good, but I think the best ones I've seen have a better look to them.

nice work. if you're a professional, you probably could have gotten a better angle and framed it up a bit more dynamically. if you're an amateur, you've done a helluva job.

not to be picky but the legs look weird to me, like they wernt there to begin with and pasted in...could be cause i cant see the rest of the girl at all. other than that i think this is a great photojournalism shot and very well executed. good luck

This works. I wish you could have gotten a better angle, but this would run, if you had nothing beter.

More along the lines of what I expect to see in the paper. Maybe B/W would look better.
