This was a wild cat. Posed for several minutes. When i decided to go several meters closer, ran away.

Mice (or beards) are on the left and playing, while cat is away...

A nice picture of a cat, but I'm not getting the sense that he's away from his quarry or what the mice are up to. That said, it's a good photo, I like the off-center composition and the light in his eyes and the depth of field.

Beautiful cat shot, and I would rate it high in another challenge, but I am taking a point off because for me it really doesn't illustrate this challenge at all above any of the other many cat cliches and sayings.

nice composition. Great pet portrait. I'm not sure (he/she?) looks very 'away' though. Looks like he's very intently watching the mice play Ü.

if your saying is the "while the cat's away the mice will play" shouldn't there be no cat and a photo of mice doing something?
