Shutter: 1/60

This was taken in a rain soaked field, with me hidden under a sheet. There are no tricks and techniques, just a camera pointing at a river for six hours until this chap popped out for five minutes, then vanished.

Was abit disapointed with 63rd. It was taken in awful conditions and most of the negative comments mentioned the sharpness which suffered because it was a reaction shot. Still, my scores are improving and I will win one day. Thanks for all your advice and comments.

You were robbed. To bad. This is a great photo! You stayed under a sheet - in the rain - for 6 HOURS? I dare say very few put that kind of effort into their photos this week. Better luck next time.

Congratulations. I like it very much

This is a great shot that looks like it's been blown up just a bit too much. The focus is just a tiny bit soft, and even though there is a good range of tone, the color is a tad monochromatic. I'm jealous of the opportunity to shoot otters though. :-)

cute!

Really cute but a little unfocused

Very good composition! Just the right angle and closeness to see this little er guy/gal. The focus is somewhat soft. I think some sharpening would help.

I love otter, this is a good photo

Just a little on the fuzzy side. Still looks okay.
One note: Don't stick anything in his mouth, it's hurts. Trust me.

this is too cool. the colors are wonderful, and I like how you've filled the frame with this little fella. Was he/she a cooperative model? :-)
07/18/2002 05:51:00 PM
such a cutie! :-)

Cute.

After some review I'm upgrading this photo. The exposure is a little much around the eyes and nose but the subject is dynamite.

another great animal portrait

Excellent shot, one for the frame. Love the sepia tone, the cropping frames its face perfect. Great Job!

good portrait. The blurred background works well with this.

nice nature photo; hard to get as these animals are very fast; a little out of focus but still works
07/16/2002 11:36:00 PM

what a great wildlife shot. he is just so darn cute, I wish I could pet him (even though it's against the law). Also a darn nice photo.

very cute

Such a face! <g> Your color seems a bit too red? However, I do like this....I mean with that title and that face it's a winner!! Kee
07/15/2002 02:52:00 PM
That face! What's not to love? Otters are one of my favorite critters. The blur above his head is a tad bit annoying, the lighting on his face had to grow on me...I think it's adorable. Great catch. ~ 10 cthenk

Alternate title: Wilford Brimley ;) I like what you did with the colors here.
07/15/2002 01:51:00 PM
Nice shot but the color seems off a little
07/15/2002 01:27:00 PM
Great shot, love otters! Seems a bit too brown overall and a broader depth of field would have more of the face in full focus. Pretty nice. 8 Swash
07/15/2002 01:08:00 PM
cute...
07/15/2002 12:54:00 PM
What you need to get a really good shot of a frisky beasty like this is luck. Keep practicing, and the luckier you will get.
07/15/2002 11:07:00 AM
Very cute photo.. It's too bad it couldn't be a bit sharper though.
07/15/2002 08:47:00 AM
AWESOME! Picture looks a little rough but I don't care. This is a great photo. 10.
07/15/2002 01:50:00 AM
Not as sharp as it should be.
07/15/2002 12:55:00 AM
