Lightning storm as seen from my bedroom window. I'm not a fan of electrical storms, having had a very bad experience as a teenager in a storm. However, the sheer excitement of trying to catch a lightning strike may change my habits during these storms.

Shot in Raw using bulb shutter and remote. Cropped, adjusted WB and contrast. Adjusted hue/saturation, curves, levels. Resize, USM, save for web.

Pretty hard to get those things on camera but I have seen so many better lighting shots. Great idea though but just not as cool as other lighting shots I have seen, including here at DPC. 6 from me though.

I have always wanted to capture a lightning bolt. Nice timing. Does the chiminey on the right lean, or is the photo not squared up?

since I've never tried to shoot lightning I've no idea how difficult it is, but I have a feeling it's more difficult than I think. so, good luck

Nice shot (and great subject, obviously), and I know this would be next to impossible to correct or make better, but to me it almost looks like it was taken out of a garage door. Still is good for a 6 in my book.
