I really like this. Subject fits perfectly for the darkness. Just enough detail to intrigue but still leave many unanswered questions.

I thank everyone for the comments. I knew when I put it in it would attract comment because I really did want a dark dark image. On reflection I guess it was just a little over done, but I didn't want one of the standard happy smiley bright studio shots. I don't like those at all.

I just can't imagine something this dark being on a wall. Not sure what the intention was here. I need more detail.

Too dark for my taste... I know you're trying to set a mood, but it doesn't work for me...

this seems a little underexposed to me - perhaps a boost in the midtones - could be my LCD monitor as well. However, I really like everything else about the image.

I just wish this one had a bit more of highlights (or maybe contrast). Lovely natural expression. Kudos for capturing the moment.8.

My favorite, Good luck

This could have been even better with some slight light adjustments. While I like the figure portrayed with highlights, the depiction is missing some richness- the lighting is a little too vague. Its still an 8 in my book, though.

Perhaps just a tad too dark. I like it very much though!

This is a beautiful photo.
A pleasant face with a very nice smile.
Low-key adds a layer of drama to the photo.
I like this and is now bumping the score up.
Good luck.

A bit dark, but still has good detail

I really like the feel of the image and subject looks like a real character, but this is DPC the average voter will think this is too dark and vote it down not me I love and will score it high.

Need more light on the left. Maybe using a reflecting board would have just given it enough to highlight that side of the face.

What a character. The pose is great and the sly grim makes this image. It is a pity that it is IMHO a bit too dark. I would have liked to see more detail.

Looks like a fantastic subject for a portrait! Though I like the low-key, a bit brighter would help me see more detail of his face.

Very nice, but I'd like to see just a touch more detail in his face.

Too dark and I have looked at it now on two monitors. Shame really, I think I might have liked this a lot if it were brighter but with the same lighting, the shadow coming from his hat like that.

I like this shot a lot. I haven't decided yet if it is a studio type portrait.

Maybe a tad more exposure, or post-processing to just bring everything out a bit more. I understand you were going for low key, but it is still a nice shot.

This looks a bit underexposed on my monitor (which is calibrated). I think there is a really good image lurking somewhere in the gloom though :-)

The darkness works but I would have like just a tad more light on his face, especially near his eye.
