How this was done:

30 second exposure set with timer.

Lights on, shutter clicks. 10 seconds in, shut off light, subject moves to other side of table. Last 10 seconds, light is flicked back on.

During the last 10 seconds, I had the subject move slightly to cause the blur, giving the illusion of the subconcious over the more sharp first shot, the concious, hence the title.

To those that wondered how it was done, thank you for the compliments. I hope you can try different ideas as well using long exposures. It is really a lot of fun, and there are many such shots on the site that have long exposures using the same person in them. They are cool to look at as well.

Only three shots were taken for this entry, and out of that three only the one I could actually use. I had other ideas, but didn't have the time to produce them that evening.

Thanks for the compliments!

Shutterpug, the man on the left IS the same man. This was a long exposure, and I wanted him to be more out of focus on the left because "that" was the "subconcious" part of him.

You REALLY need to stop following my photos around and giving bad commentary on them. You are developing quite a pattern for yourself which I find embarrassing for you.

the only thing in focus here was the face of the man on the right. This is just too bothersome to me not to point out. While your shot was creative, you need to work harder on the technicals.

Looks like the cards version of the PIXAR's chess player (Geri's Game).
Nice one.

How did you do this? Very nice, but how did you do this without advanced editing? I'd love to try something like this!

Persoanlly i think this would have worked better with just the righthand chap, maybe in portrait style. I think the left blur really takes away from what is ood in the shot. Of course what you have done is technically more complicated so congratulations for that.
